It is perfectly legal to sell horse meat products in the United Kingdom if it meets the general requirements for selling and labelling meat.

Barry Shaw, Director, has been interviewed recently by BBC Radio Cumbria about stocking horse meat and the News and Star newspaper will be offering samples of the product in Carlisle over the weekend (18 May), along with Zebra and Kangaroo Burgers. Barry said: “the burgers are very much like beef in texture and are slightly gamey in taste. We thought it would be nice for people to try it so that they can see how nice it is if it prepared and sourced properly”.

Also on the menu are Zebra Burgers and Kangaroo Burgers which are the same price as the Horse burgers and can be purchased here.
